Meatloaf and a Movie Review!

I know everyone probably has their go-to meatloaf recipe, but this one is just plain good! I hate thinking about meatloaf... especially with a chef in the house. It is literally a loaf of baked meat. Ugg. That thought grosses me out. However, we always have the 'this is so gross' conversation, then clean our plates everytime we make this! It's hard for me to make this for someone who can cook ANYTHINGINTHEWORLD, but, I am a mere american housewife, so yes, we too eat meatloaf! Serve with mashed potatoes and you'll please your crowd, promise.

Meatloaf
Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup fresh bread crumbs
  • 1 onion, diced
  • ½- 1 green bell pepper
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 (8-ounce) cans tomato sauce
  • 3 tablespoons vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Mix together the beef, bread crumbs, onion, pepper, egg, salt, pepper, and 1/2 cup of the tomato sauce. Form this mixture into a loaf and place it in a shallow pan. Stir together the remaining tomato sauce, vinegar, sugar, mustard, and Worcestershire. Pour this sauce over the meatloaf. Bake for 1 hour, basting every 15 minutes with the pan juices.

Now to movies! We watched New York, I Love You the other night. Wow. It has this line up of practically every famous person in hollywood and it was horrible! I almost fell of the bed laughing because right when it was over Powers started waving his hands around in the air and said 'That was all of their worst movies ever!' So true! We still have no idea what this was supposed to be about!

Here's the cast: You would think it to be fantastic! WRONG! Not good!

Weekend In Review

I knew our weekend was off to a good start when I came home from work Friday and Renny and Powers were at our neighbors house playing a friendly game of baseball! I love our new house and neighbors! We have GREAT neighborhood kids that we are so thankful for!
This was the first of quite a few kid games that hubbers took part in and made all the kido's mad because he would 'bend' the rules to his advantage! i.e. If i can touch the base with a long stick while Im running, technically I'm 'touching' base, so that should count! We wonder where Ren gets all her 'games with a zillion rules' from?!?!

Exciting news first!!!
We have harvested the last (and first) of our summer harvest!! Please don't be discouraged at our BOUNTY for all you first time farmers.... our bumper crop is just new house luck Im sure you will be as fortunate as we were this year next year! Are you ready for all our goodies?!

Hold your breath...

Behold....

That's right, folks! We have successfully harvested ahhhh lemon (as in ONE!) Here's another shot of our beauty... She's a looker!

We're proud parents! We actually ARE since we brutally murdered our last lemon tree! :) Poor lemonjello! (That was it's name and we talked to it all the time!) Ok, gloating aside, here is the rest of our weekend!

Charley spent the night with us Saturday night and we all fell asleep on her! Poor thing! We can't stay awake past 9:00 so she was left watching movies by herself :(
We watched the movie 'Imagine That' with Eddie Murphy and it was really cute! Powers and I are trying to weed out movies that aren't portraying positive messages so this was a good, fun watch!

Two thumbs up from the Lane clan! Eddie Murphy is hilarious anyway, so anything he does is sure to get a few laughs!

Then, we made homemade caramel apples! Fun!!! Powers made the caramel from scratch! (How lucky am i?!?! Who else is married to a man that knows how to make homemade caramel?!) We made a totally mess and didn't eat much because it proved to be harder than eating fair apples, but we had a blast trying! Here are our apples and a little of Charley's food art!

Powers made me a beautiful caramel flower, too! He got hubbs of the night award, for sure!
