Lemon Head Lane!

I am so excited about this week of preggernancy! Listen how exciting:
'This week's big developments: Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another.'
Ahhh! Who else is totally pumped up about this! I wrote the parents that I can just imagine baby in there with all its many expressions... opening it's eyes really, really wide like mom when it's listening to stories, talking with it's hands like daddy when its on an interesting topic... I have a sneaking suspicion we are going to have a very animated, colorful child! (Meaning Im sure it will be a total handful, but I'm up for it! Thank the Lord for grandparents, right?!)

It also says that it's likely baby will be sucking it's thumb in our next ultrasound picture, which is tomorrow am! I'll keep you updated on thumb status!

We're lemon sized this week! Lemon Head Lane... another fitting nickname!

Books Galore and Thrilled about Baby!

My sister-in-law is the world's best. Really. That's her official title!
We found a package on our doorstep this morning... included were 5 brand new of the best baby books to start Baby Lane's collection! She sent her families favorites... which make them all the more special! This was our first baby gift, so of course, I've just been elated all day!

Added bonus: she has 3 super genius little girls, so I'm going to overload Baby Lane with these classics in hopes that Mel's act of reading to her children will have the same effect on ours!

Read this one during lunch. Wonderful!

You are the best, Aunt Melanie! We love you so much and thank you for this thoughtful gift! I'm having a good, quiet night and am going to start reading to Baby Shim before bed! Never too early to start, right?!

Love you so, so much!

SKRIMP Lane

I love this weeks update!
As a preface to the update- Skrimp is the ebonics word for Shrimp! My awesome grandmother reads this blog and hopefully she doesn't know about skrimp! However, I wouldn't be surprised if she did... she's on facebook and I'm not, so she's totally with it! (Side bar to the topic at hand, I wish everyone knew my grandmother! She is hilarious and you would love her! She keeps us in stitches... as my dear ole mom would say!)

Our little baby boy/girl (shim) has FINGERTIPS this week! Isn't that cool! I wonder what shim's little prints would look like if it got finger printed! I promise I'm not imagining a juvenile delinquent baby, just thinking about how tiny those little things must be! We already have it's mugshot on our fridge, so it only seems fitting.... Shim's body is growing to catch up with it's giant head too! I love this baby! How fun are all these updates?!

Anywho, we are all are well and still relatively bump free. We're just getting THICK. Awesome. This is so weird (yet exciting at the same time!!)

Here's what our baby boo looks like this week:Beautimus!

The whole family, allie at lead mic, just sang "let's get it on". Marvin gaye classic best sung by howling! I love our dog!

Peeuew Caden!

The family came over last night for dinner. We pretty much stuffed ourselves full, then sat back and let the twins entertain us! It was awesome having Charley with us! She looked beautiful and is always such a huge help! I love that little nugget!

Caden in his sunglasses!

Caden being tough in his sunglasses!

I just thought this was funny... we were trying to get a pic of the kids together but they both kept holding their glasses and we couldn't see their faces. We were all saying "Put your hands down, put your hands down" so this is Caden 'putting his hands down'... He laid them both flat on the floor! I love kids!

She looks like a swimmer, huh?
He looks like an alien!!

Caden had a peeuew (dirty diaper) and Tootie wanted us all to know! Listen closely right at the first... she says 'Peeuew, Caden, peeuew, Charleyrhea.' I love that that's what she calls Charley! Then check out the shaken sister! This is right after she and caden were checking out their hiney's in the mirror! They are something else!

Peeuew! from Taylor Lane on Vimeo.

Caden also has learned how to fake sleep and he thinks its hilarious! We were saying our goodbyes last night and Caden was 'asleep' in his car seat! No one could wake him to say goodbye but every once in a while he would come apart and laugh and laugh and laugh! He is so funny! We are so lucky to have 4 adorable kids in our family!

(Note: I don't know how to spell peeuew or hiney, so im spelling them the way they sound!)

Limeade Lane

We're Lime Sized this week! Whoo Hoo! My little week by week email says .... The most dramatic development this week: reflexes. Awesome! It also says that if you prod your belly, that the baby will squirm in response... umm, hello?! Does anyone do that? This baby ain't movin' unless it's good and ready! Momma's not running into any chair backs to get reflex reactions! Crazies!
It also says that baby's eyes have moved from the sides of its head to its correct location, front and center (praise the Lord... otherwise it would have looked like Dad!! Ha ha! ONLY KIDDING, HONEY!!)
Anyway, were getting bigger! I totally cried wolf on the baby bump. I had a little something for a few days, then it went away for 3 or 4 days. Today it's back, so Im not saying anything else until we have a solid week of bumpage!

Melt Me.

Lauren and the babies just stopped by the office to drop something by for me. I went out to the car for a quick 'drive by lovin' and listened to this conversation:

(scene: I have on a big necklace that Caden had his eye on, so I let him play with it/wear it. I asked him if he could let his sister play with it for a second and he passed it over...)

Tay Tay: Aww Caden, tell sissy she looks pretty in her necklace.
Caden: Sissy, purdy necklace (head nods)
Lizzy: Tank oou, Caden

Melt me. They are so sweet!

Water Octopus

I went to Barry's to work the other afternoon.... which quickly turned into play with the kids.... Caden's new most adorable thing is to come to you and say 'South Side' to which you reply 'Outside?' and he replies 'Okay' and runs for the door!

No way to NOT go outside after him being so cute about it! So, we went outside and played in their new cars for a while. Tootie just likes to sit in her's and talk on the phone and stuff. Caden likes to drive around.

Here they are being the cutest things ever:

Then Barry came out and turned on the water octopus, which could totally be a weapon if the water pressure is turned up too high! We got it to a safe, non eye gouging level, striped the kids, and let them go for it! Barry joined in and as usual, it just ended up being Barry and Caden. Caden LOVED it!
Here's cutie saying cheese for the camera

Caden having a blasty!

This is what Tootie's like with water games. 1. Dad gets her out there 2. She starts screaming 'WET' 3.Heading on back to dry land! No go for Liz and the water octopus!
Great picture!
This is one of my other favorite things on the planet. Watch Caden's arms as he runs! They are like anti-gravity, wet noodles! He runs like this all the time and its hilarious!

Also, if you are having trouble watching the videos, try playing them, then immediately hit pause until you see the gray 'loading' bar get all the way to the end. (i think its gray) The videos should play fine once they are fully loaded! Mom, if its still not working, call me! I love you!

Fig Lane

Here we are this week, guys! Week 11 and we look like a fig with fingers and footsies! Baby's bones are beginning to harden and apparently shim is hiccuping like crazy because it now has a diaphragm! Awesome! Poor thing is probably annoyed. Hiccups are so annoying!
We are still feeling fine! So far so good on the preggs front! With figs though, comes a tummy! I could be wrong (because I've cried wolf about 6 times before) but as of yesterday and today, we officially have a tummy bump! Nothing huge, but i just look different! Lord have mercy, big girls coming to town!

The greatest dog that ever lived.

How do you say goodbye to your best friend? How do you let go of the most loyal, most loving dog on the planet? Yesterday my parents lost their best friend. It was a sad day. Rudy has been there for mom and dad for 8 and a half years. He never once met a stranger. He never once acted out. He never once met anyone that didn't leave raving about what a well behaved dog Rudy was. He HOWLED when we walked in the house.... his way of opening his arms with the biggest 'welcome home' hug he could give! He did laundry in the mornings. He could catch any toy thrown into the air and never miss, he never bothered being a pillow during movies. He somehow managed to hold his stature of most gentle pet, yet fearless leader to the rat pack of neighborhood dogs that followed him around.
We found out Rudy was struggling with cancer about 3 months ago. Bless his heart, he spent weeks in the vets office, but in true Rudy fashion, it came to be his new, fun getaway while he was there! He won the hearts of the vet and staff. He had a special area that was out in the open with them because they knew he liked being around everyone instead of caged up! The doctor's cried with mom, they curled up on the floor to love on Rudy during the hard days, they called and emailed to check on his health. They were like the rest of us.... in love with this huge golden sweetheart.
I'll never forget when mom got Rudy for Christmas! He was so tiny.... I wish I had pictures of him! Poor thing was so bothered by all of us trying to love on him that he would crawl in this tiny place under the coffee table to get away and nap! That was his safe place! 80 something pounds later, we had our family dog! We watched his awkward, teenage nose pop out of his flat, puppy face... we watched his tiny little paws turn into massive feet! We watched his soft fur turn into a lions robe! We watched as our sweet little yellow pup grayed around the nose as he turned into a wise old man.
I will, with mom and dad, let the tears fall in memory of 8 wonderful years. He was our brother. He was their son, companion, and best friend. He gave us years of happiness, then 3 glorious months of courageous fighting to stay right by my parents side as he got ill. He defied all the doctor's predictions. They gave him weeks... he gave us months. He still had loving left to do. He still needed a few more times to wake mom and dad up in the mornings. He needed time with the rest of the family to say his goodbyes. He just wasn't going that easily!

I cant wait to get to St. Peter's gate, because I know, standing there waiting, will be a glorious creature, smiling ear to ear, howling at the top of his lungs..... welcoming us Home.

In Mom's beautiful words:
Our beautiful Golden Retriever, Rudolph Maximus Rhea, lovingly known as Rudy, lost his battle today with the only enemy he has ever had - cancer. All of us in the Rhea household want to thank you for your many prayers on our behalf as we tried to make his last days as pleasant as possible.
I remember the day we got him - Christmas, 1990 - a tiny, floppy-eared little ball of fur. My whole family was here for Christmas, and we all spent the afternoon and night trying to come up with a name. I thought something from Christmas would be appropriate, but we watched "The Gladiator" that day, and all the guys wanted some big manly name for him.
Well, after having Rudy for 8-1/2 years, a tough manly name would have never suited him. Rudolph was perfect because he brought so much laughter and joy into our lives. But Maximus from the movie was also fitting because he was the most courageous dog I have ever known. From his first illness until his death, he gave us an extra three months of sheer pleasure with him, and we both think he was able to do that only because he had such a powerful will to live and to please us.
Again, thank you for being such faithful friends to us.
Love, Bette

Hot Chicks and One Dancin' Chick!

Here are a few cute videos from the past few weeks. I have some super cute ones to post of the twins, but I can only download a certain number of videos per week and im screeching up on my max! Ill have to wait til next week!

This is a video of Serenity and our friend, Falon at the McWane Center. This is probably on my top 5 favorite items they have at the museum. It does all different color schemes and styles, but it mesmerizes you and you feel like you could literally dance forever! I wish every city had a McWane center. Its totally awesome!

Switch Gears. Here are our 7 baby chickens! If you remember, we started with 8, but it was one chick's time to meet his maker. Bless its little heart. I'll save you all the gory details!
Here's a video of the 7 survivors first thing this morning. They are really cute, but tay tay and baby keep a good distance from them! They are actually really ugly right now.... their feathers are coming in so they have this ratty looking mix mess of feathers and fur... and awkward tail feathers that shoot up from their behinds!

Anyway, here are our chickens.... and our dog that is just praying one slips out....

Little Backwards Action

Ok, Im Tarantinoing the blog cause I have lots of work to do and forgot to load these in the right order! We had a few friends come over to christen the new house with a cookout last week... it was so fun! We packed 30 something people in our tiny house and just went with it! There is just something about having the people you love in your home... especially when we are able to feed them! (Since cooking is what we like to do best!) We LOVED having everyone over and Powers already had our second cookout tentatively planned by bedtime!

In true stalker fashion, I only took pictures of the kids. Sorry adults! I don't know what's the matter with me! In backwards order, here we go...

Gray Bassham saying his goodbyes! How cute! They all just hugged and hugged!

Gorgeous Gray...

Somehow the sombrero made its appearance!

Bryant brought this outfit with him and did a costume change the minute he walked in the door! He was 'policman batman' and I couldn't take a picture of him without him making this face! It was hilarious! It was 100 degrees outside but he was committed to his no-breathe, vinyl outfit all night long!

Toot's sidewalk chalking allie.

The twins have learned how to sing 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star'. Here are toots and renny singing it... sorry its loud, but you can tell Lizzy really knows it! Caden knows it too but I think he was busy running around in circles laughing...

Untitled from Taylor Lane on Vimeo

Our last singing sensation was definitely Allie. We were celebrating a birthday this night and Allie recognized 'Happy Birthday' as her favorite song to sing along to and she went for it! She howled the whole way through! She's such a great, weird dog!
