Kumquat Lane.... i like it! This nickname might carry over into real life! My little kumquat... it so fits! I can't believe how big baby's getting! This week seems alot bigger than last week! My email report says that in the next few weeks baby will double in size! Whoa nelly!
Baby has tiny fingernails and toenails, peachfuzz, and has wrapped its tiny hands across its chest! Stop it!! How cute!! It also says that its kicking up a storm in there! I can't feel anything yet, but I'm proud of our little soccer player in there!
Here's our baby! Isn't it beautimus? Otherwise, were still feeling fine! We absolutely need an afternoon nap everyday recently, but other than that, we're still doing great!
Powers just met Charles Barkley!!! THE Charles Barkley!!! How cool is that? He came in for a meeting down the hall from Powers office and he got to meet him! Ahhhh! Of course, P didn't take any pictures with him (what was he thinking?!?!?!?!) but here's one of their receptionist and ole CB! I am so star struck FOR Powers! I love famous people! Im totally that nervous little person that doesn't know how to act around famous people... i just point and giggle. That's me. Powers? Totally not phased. How can that be? I love Charles Barkley now- for no other reason than that he and powers are new bff's.
Normally known to be the happy plate makin' pro- today, I can't think of one single flavor that could indulge my taste buds. Pregnancy is so weird. I have never in my life not been able to name off at least 5 things that 'I would LOVE to eat right now', but today, nadda. On the lunch menu- a vanilla ice cream cone that I'm eating with a frown. Boo to unappreciative taste buds.
It's officially been 14 days since I posted one single blog about the twins and charley. Do you know why? Because the Rhea's felt it would be great fun to take a week vacation from the world. A WEEK. SERIOUSLY?!?! As we move into day 7 of their departure from my life, I only fall further into the lonely pit of life without them. I can't make it. I need a silly 12 year old and 2-funny 2 year olds back in my life pronto. I'm miserable. I hope this blasted vacation gets over soon :( The twins have probably forgotten my name :( Im going to have to re-introduce myself to Charley :(
Rhea Rule: no more family vacations. It's just the way it has to be.
I'm naming this 'The Year of Conception' for our bloodline. Wow. We have had a lot of babies the past few years!
In continuing our celebration, we'd like to welcome baby Joshua Penland to this wonderful world! Andy and Courtney Penland (Cousin's from Texas on Barry and Taylor's side) gave birth to a seriously adorable baby boy around 4:30 pm Friday, July 24th. He weighed in at 7 lbs 2 oz and was 20 inches long. (I feel like I should have a boxing microphone hanging from the ceiling while I announce his little stats! Annnnnd in this corner.......)
I can't wait to meet this little cutie pie! Look what a pretty baby he is....

A prayer for baby Joshua to grow big and strong and know his Father intimately. I pray he follows in his Creator's footsteps all the days of his life and changes the world by following His lead! I pray for his family as they pour into this sweet thing! Such beautiful people... i know they will fill their walls with His word and His love and I can't wait to see what an amazing little man Joshua grows to become! I love you guys and am so happy for you!
There were so many updates this week! Baby has been getting it! Baby is the size of a grape this week, hence, Baby Grapico! (Sidebar: Isn't grapico delicious? I just found out about its syrupy deliciousness this year!) Anywho, Baby Grapico's heart valves are forming, and teeth, and organs, muscles, and nerves! No wonder momma is worn slap out! Baby is working so hard in there! There is no way of ever seeing this miracle as anything other than the work of The Master Sculptor. With His finely tuned hand He is knitting our baby together in such intricate fashion! Im amazed!
Technically its sex organs are in place but not visible yet! Is it a girl? Is it a boy? We'll know in 7 months! Ha! Everyone loves a good surprise, right?! ;) The online Chinese Birth Calendar (with its no fail accuracy!!) predicts that we are having a boy! Powers would be pumped!
The lovely, wonderful, sweetest Brett family invited us to come spend the weekend with them in Perry, FL to go scalloping. As clarification on the title of this blog, the Lane's say 'scallop'.... like gallop. The Brett's (aka professionals) say scallop... like... dollop! Ha!
We had an AWESOME weekend! We drove down Thursday night, scalloped all day Friday, napped all day Saturday (due to inclimate weather), then had home church and scalloped again all day Sunday! It was exactly what the doctor ordered.
Preface on the hobby of scalloping.... if you have an addictive personality, don't ever go scalloping. When you catch one of those little jokers, it is like they shoot something in your veins and you CAN'T stop! (unless your preggs and you have to stop to nap!) Ask J Momma! She knows! She and Charley were the first one's out of the boat and we were practically driving away before she'd come back in! The water is 4-6 feet deep and you just snorkel on top of the water until you see one. You dive in grab him and keep on going. The little jokers just rest on top of the grass in the water and you either spot their shells or their little blue eyes looking up at you. (See below). It was great fun!
More than anything, we were able to spend time with people who remind you of what being a naturally good, kind person is all about. We spent a weekend in prayer for the people of their community and learned so much from just observing how the Brett's live their lives. They are top notch. Thank you Barry for marrying such a great girl with a great family. You guys are the best.

Saturday night consisted of a mean game of Horse. Here's Charles making a good one! Go Girl!
Well, its official. You all know how crazy I am about the Rhea kids. Im going to be the most obnoxious person ever when Baby Lane comes along! You were fairly warned! We were able to get our first sonogram last Thursday. It was the most amazing thing I've ever experienced. I was totally cool... not at all nervous... just had that mind set that 'this will be cool.' No hyper emotions or anything before the appointment.
When our nurse turned on the tv monitor and found our little nugget floating around in there, I TOTALLY LOST IT. Went into hysterics and screamed like a crazy person.... then came the water works that wouldn't stop! I have fallen off my rocker! Poor Powers was trying to have a Dad moment but he had to straighten up and check to make sure I was okay!
I was so overcome that there really, honestly was a little life in there... a life with a tiny little heart beat that was just beating as fast as it could! I could not believe it. God is so, so, so good. Please pray for this baby to grow and follow fast after God and to never lose sight of it's purpose. I love this little K.Bean so much.

Here we are, world! We're the size of a kidney bean! (Dear Lord, please don't let there be this many kidney beans in my belly! Please let there be just one! Amen!) I miss BlueBaby already :( Kidney Bean sounds ewwww....
My precious angel niece and nephew turned 2 Friday!! Almost the whole family was able to come to town to celebrate! We packed 2 cars to the brim and headed out of town for a pool party. We pretty much had the pool to ourselves which was great! We cooked out and just spent a perfect day relaxing! I have to send a total shout out to my dad for taking most of these GREAT pictures! He was under warning of Mom that he better take a bunch for her since she couldn't make it and he totally kept his end of the deal! Thanks Dad! I was SO GLAD that you came and hung out with us! Ps. Powers just told me that Charley Bug took a lot of these pics SO... way to go Charles! They are great! You might have a future ahead of you girlie!
